Originally constructed in the 15th century, The Hotel PACAI displays its impressive original architecture

Amid the character-filled streets of the most baroque quarter in Vilnius, a centuries-old mansion reflects the city’s everlasting air of grandeur. 

A witness to all the eras that have transpired since it was first constructed in the 15th century, it was present for every significant event, from the reign of Russian Czars to Napoleon’s entrance in the city. After its extensive refurbishment, completed to painstakingly restore and embrace every aspect and fine detail of its original architecture, all new elements of the hotel have been placed in a way that directly embraces the old.

Soft light subtly caresses lithe marble statues, ancient walls house a sophisticated lounge with sleet-coloured furnishings, and ceilings retain their sculpted surfaces and stone-clad textures. All the while, the art which adorns its walls is boldly abstract, creating a stark contrast that instantly shows guests there is more here than meets the eye.

Ascending dark-toned staircases lead to its upper rooms and suites, which continue to create gripping design elements through opposing features and styles. Here, smooth, lacquered wood floors meet rugged walls with exposed brick and century-old finishes, all imbued with sleek modern furnishings for an effect that captures the attention of visitors from the moment they walk into each room. 

A unique viewpoint of the city in which it’s housed, as well as the Vilnius Town Hall square, can be accessed from the PACAI Suite’s private balcony through its presidential open-plan living and dining area, with stately, high ceilings, and touches of impeccable art that inspire its guests to host elegant, in-room dinners or meetings.

Just as the hotel’s design is a reflection of both the past and the present, its gastronomy acts as an ode to the many ancient and modern culinary influences of Vilnius. At MUROS Restaurant and Bar, renowned Chef Liutauras Čeprackas uses state-of-the-art methods to prepare premium steak cuts for a chic sharing-plate experience, whilst its wine cellar is curated to offer diners a taste of tradition sourced from the world’s most prestigious grapevines.

An after-dinner stroll will lead visitors through the streets of the Vilnius old quarter, which hearken to its aristocratic past as a Grand Duchy.
