Respect for Norway’s coastal environment
A ring of energy-conscious luxury, Svart Hotel is scheduled to open its doors in 2021 to usher in a new era of sustainable hospitality.
Every single one of the windows which cover its outer layer provides a different viewpoint of the Svartisan Glacier, the second-largest in Norway. Meanwhile, its position atop the Arctic Fjord’s waters will make this stunning architectural concept by Miris, Snøhetta and Powerhouse a unique place from which to experience what the Nordic land has to offer.
Escaping the routine, aided by a Nordic time schedule
This is a place where night is day and day is night, so it’s the perfect destination from which to practice midnight yoga in the summer sun or admire the northern lights as they shine through the pitch-black darkness of noon. Glacier hikes here will open visitors’ eyes to expansive vistas of the rugged Helgaland coastline, as well as striking images of the mainland’s natural landscapes.
Built out of pure light, a hotel to fuel the clean energy revolution
Escaping the routine, aided by a Nordic time schedule
Complete respect for this pristine wilderness means that Svart’s construction relies purely on solar energy; so will its future operation. Sustainability is at the heart of this hotel’s philosophy, as well as the activities which will be arranged for visitors, such as diving for mussels in the fjord before participating in the preparation of gourmet meals, knowing that all local harvesting is practiced with great sensitivity for the ecosystem.
The use of clean energy and sustainable gastronomy means that these immaculate views will be cherished by guests for years to come.
