In 1995, Soneva Fushi debuted on Kunfunadhoo Island in the Maldives, pioneering the island’s first spa. Originally part of Six Senses, founders Sonu and Eva Shivdasani established Soneva as an owner-operated venture in 2012. Their meticulous care extends to Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani, Soneva in Aqua, and Soneva Kiri, reflecting their intimate involvement and conscientious ethos.

Nestled within the Noonu Atoll, a 150-acre island sits gracefully on the fringes of the Medhufaru lagoon, cloaked in lush greenery and embraced by pristine white beaches. Its surreal landscape, with azure skies, vibrant jungle, and crystal-clear waters, along with fragrant pandan leaves, embodies true wellbeing. Here, nature beckons you to reconnect with yourself, where shoes are stowed away upon arrival and forgotten until departure. Accessible by a 40-minute seaplane journey from Malé, a 60-minute speedboat ride from Soneva Fushi, or a half-day cruise aboard Soneva in Aqua.

Situated on the north side, The Gathering resembles a rustic barn perched over the water, housing several restaurants, a library, and a wine cellar. Guests can indulge in a culinary adventure with a diverse array of dining options, including Overseas by Mathias Dahlgren, the organic oasis of So Organic, and a lineup of esteemed visiting chefs like Tom Aikens and Jane Alty of The Begging Bowl fame. The bountiful gardens provide an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs for the culinary creations across the resort’s eateries.

On the eastern edge of Soneva Jani, where green turtles nestle amidst mangroves and gentle waves, the Island Spa rises like a sprawling treehouse above the canopy. Three levels of tranquility await, with egg-shaped treatment rooms connected by walkways leading to a yoga shala crowned by a meditation platform, all adorned with timber tiles resembling lizard scales.
