Hotel Borsari and The Home

Martigny | Switzerland

With Hotel Borsari and The Home, Switzerland continues to lead the way in experiential travel—where hospitality meets heritage, and where thoughtful design and sustainability converge with a deep respect for local culture.

New Swiss Hospitality Icons Celebrate Culture, Wellness, and Sustainability

Switzerland, renowned for its alpine beauty and cultural depth, is preparing to welcome two extraordinary additions to its hospitality landscape. Set to debut in early 2024 and spring 2025 respectively, The Home in Zurich and Hotel Borsari in Martigny are poised to offer discerning travelers immersive experiences that blend heritage, sustainability, and contemporary design.

Hotel Borsari: A Celebration of History and Wellness in Martigny

Set at the base of the Great Saint Bernard Pass, the picturesque town of Martigny offers a harmonious blend of natural grandeur and historical significance. Surrounded by dramatic gorges—ranked among the top ten in Europe—alongside terraced vineyards, thermal springs, and scenic alpine trails, Martigny is a destination of both serenity and story.

Opening in Spring 2025, Hotel Borsari is designed to honor this distinctive heritage. A highlight of the property is its extraordinary underground baths, housed in 19th-century wine tanks and restored to provide a one-of-a-kind wellness experience. These evocative spaces invite guests to unwind while connecting with the town’s Gallo-Roman past, which includes remarkably preserved ruins such as ancient thermal baths and a 5,000-seat amphitheater.

Art and locality play a central role in the hotel’s philosophy. British artist Rob Ball has been commissioned to produce a bespoke photographic series celebrating the region’s character, to be showcased throughout the hotel and its on-site restaurant, 180. Committed to sustainable gastronomy, the restaurant sources all its ingredients from within a 180-kilometer radius, delivering an authentic taste of the region.

The Home: Zurich’s Contemporary Cultural Retreat

In Zurich, where tradition and innovation coexist in harmony, The Home introduces a new kind of urban retreat. The latest project from acclaimed hoteliers Günter and Manfred Weilguni—creators of Spedition Thun and Hide Hotel Flims—The Home is scheduled to open in early 2024 as a sophisticated, design-forward property defined by a strong environmental ethos.

The hotel’s interiors, conceived by the award-winning design studio Stylt Trampoli, reflect a commitment to natural materials and regional craftsmanship. Locally sourced wood, stone, and ceramic tile create a warm, tactile environment, while bath amenities are provided by Soeder, a Zurich-based company known for its sustainable, plant-based products.

Beyond its design, The Home is envisioned as a dynamic cultural hub. Through a partnership with the renowned LUMA Foundation, the hotel will host a dynamic schedule of curated exhibitions, performances, and talks—underscoring its dedication to fostering dialogue between artists, locals, and international guests alike.
